Ingredients

raw rice - 1 cup
water for rice - 4 cup
split moong dal - 4 tbsp
grated ginger - 1 tsp
black pepper - 1 tsp
chana dal - 1 tsp
cumin seed - 1 tsp
green chili - 1 
ghee - 2 tsp
curry leaves, oil

Method

1. Soak rice before 1 hour with measured water ( 4 cups water for 1 cup rice )
2. In a pan add 2 tsp of ghee and roast chana dal, pepper, cumin seed, ginger, green chili, curry leaves . (You can use cashews instead of this chana dal ) - set aside
3. In a pressure cooker add rice, moong dal, roasted ingredients and salt ( see video )
4. Let this cook for 4 to 5 whistle sounds. 
5. open the cooker once the pressure subsides and mash the contents well.  The rice should be mushy to get awesome taste
6. Serve this pongal with coconut chutney
