Soak rice before 1 hour with measured water ( 4 cups water for 1 cup rice )</div> <div> 2. In a pan add 2 tsp of ghee and roast chana dal, pepper, cumin seed, ginger, green chili, curry leaves . (You can use cashews instead of this chana dal ) - set aside</div> <div> 3. In a pressure cooker add rice, moong dal, roasted ingredients and salt ( see video )</div> <div> 4. Let this cook for 4 to 5 whistle sounds. </div> <div> 5. open the cooker once the pressure subsides and mash the contents well.  The rice should be mushy to get awesome taste</div> <div> 6. Serve this pongal with coconut chutney</div> </div>
